is there a way to fix a steering wheel air bag cove on a 1991 firebird or can it be recoverd ,or just throw it away and find a replacement .

 

Can't be fixed. You have to either get a new bag or get a different steering wheel. The only way you could possibly fix it would require removal of the stuff from the back of the module and melting the plastic/vinyl back together through the hole, which would look really nasty.

 

I have a pretty good one available from mine (90 model, grey interior).
(Ripped out all the SIR stuff, but don't tell anyone.)

I have one from my '91 GTA if anyone is interested. The bag itself was installed in Sept 1999 because the coil in the original bag broke. I took the whole steering wheel w/ airbag off last year in favor of an aftermarket wheel.

 

so do you have just the air bag or the hole steering wheel ? the one i have is curled up on the corners and dont look good.
