Start at post 52 of the following link:

You'll be lucky not to break something. After years in the sun, the plastic is very brittle.

Re: upper weather stripping on doors..

use the search function to see if you can find a post from a couple months back that has a link to an online video - it is specifically about replacing the door weatherstrips (ones that go all around the perimeter of the door) and clearly shows how to remove door panels and upper moldings- it is great

I just removed mine last weekend with no problems

basically you first remove the inner door pull/handle, plastic bezels/switches (be careful some of the torx bolts are just plastic fakes and you can destroy them if you try to unscrew them

then use a screwdiver or, best, a panel clip removel tool - you can buy cheap plastic ones at Harbor Freight if they are in your area - slip into edge of door panel and slide until you find a clip, then pop out, do same all around

now that the panel is loose, make sure window is down, stand facing interior of door and grab each end of the top plastic trim with a hand, rock side to side while pulling up, they should come right off - good luck

Re: upper weather stripping on doors..

I was referring to both weatherstripping replacement and the A pillars.

I got the door strips no problem, I just cant get the upper half of the stripping out easily. Plus it doesn't help the company shipped me out the upper half for a 79-82 Camaro

First off dont change them unless you have to. The covers your talking about not wanting to break, will break, so get new ones first then might as well just rip the old ones off, cause like I said they will break. I put new headliner in my car. Even with the puller tool I still broke both of them. The tabs that hold the clips in place are way too thin. That's where they break. Guess u could get lucky, but be very careful, & hope u have the winning loto numbers. I did a bone head thing & didnt change mine with the headliner so im leaving them. Even if I get water at the car wash. They stay till rain water gets in.

Re: upper weather stripping on doors..

Yeah, I hope I pull the lucky straw with this. LUCKILY my headliner is due at the same time my weather stripping gave out, so at least I kinda have a good opportunity IMO. Thanks for all the help guys, it is appreciated.
