Hey guys, new member here. I'm a member everywhere else for TBI's so why not here.

I just went to the u pull it yard with my Dad and I found an 89 IrocZ camaro, 350 TPI/700r4 car. motor/trans gone, beatiful body/interior. car had a borg werner 2.77 rear in it.

It had the 140MPH gauge cluster in it so i grabbed it to make some profit (i'm 15 and broke )

it has the manual speedo cable which is normal for 89, but on the tach, the YELLOW line starts at 5000 and the RED line starts at 5500. I thought this was a 1985 only thing?

I'm 80% i remember looking at the door jam and seeing it was a 1989.

Whats the deal with this tach?

 

Welcome to TGO. Wasn't in my 85 LG4 IROC. I suggest that 350 TPI's were equipped with them.

So, its a 350 TPI only thing? i looked at a couple videos of 350 TPI cars on youtube and most of them have the yellow line that starts at 4500.

 

My 89 has the same tach, yellow starts at 5k etc, it was origionally a 305 tpi car.

 

The one that's currently in my car came from a 305 TPI.

To make this have some relevant info on my 87 305 tpi orange starts at 4500 and redlines at 5000

 

From what I know all the 350 TPI Cars were equipped with a 5500 redline tach.Other cars that also got a 5500 redline tach were 305 TPI with a 5 speed manual trans and I believe L69 cars also got them

 

i'll stand behind the L69 part as mine has that.... 85 w/700R4

 

So this is a 350TPI, 305TPI/5speed, and L69 cluster??

I just thought i'd buy it and sell it to an RS/base guy to upgrade or someone who has the 4500 yellow line and wants the 5009. I'd hate to see it get crushed, i thought the 5000yellow 5500 red was like rare or something. lol
