Sagging Head liner?
Sagging Head liner?
Before anyone says anything I know the easiest fix is to take the car to a upholstrey shop and get the headliner fixed. But this is expensive and ruins all the fun of having a vintage car to work on. So what I would like to know is what have all of you done to fix the headliner in your cars. Mine is an 86 Iroc and the liner is sagging pretty badly.

Thanks Rob, I have actually been a member here since last year just haven't been on here much as the car was put away for the winter and I didn't work on it. So how did your headliner turn out? I suppose there is a proper material to but for headliners or can I use a material of my choice? I don't think the headliner board itself is too bad just seems like the cloth is letting go but I could be wrong. Won't know til I get her out I guess.

Not sure if you knew about the new ABS headliners or not. They're pretty easy to install, are more ridgid than the board origional, because they have an ABS backing and it will not deteriorate like the factory board ones do.
Our manufacturer has made these with the trim shop in mind to help reduce the install time.Basically you just take it out of the box and install it into your car.
Here's a link to them if you would like to check them out.

I was looking into the ABS boards and it was just outa my price range. But my old board was fine, little fiberglass and glue to fix some tears, headliner adhesive and material just as the article said and it cost me like more than 70% of a whole new board. + it looks great. Just take your time, double measure and do it all right. When it comes to my interior I think its ok to be a little obsessive compulsive.
