big yellow plug

I am replacing the gauge cluster on my 83 Z with an 86 or 87 unit(145 mph). I have noticed a big yellow plug on the back of the new one that is not on the old. Both are gauge panels not lights and mech speedos. Will I have to do anything to make this one work?

Re: big yellow plug

I just switched a steering column on my 89. I ran into a couple big yellow plugs and they all led to Airbags, and tumblers.

Re: big yellow plug

Figured I would try it...No problems other than the normal that I have read. Factory tachs do not read right at all!!! I need to tweek the gauges a little. I will buy an aftermarket tach and hang it in front of the original.

Re: big yellow plug

if its the big yellow thing between the speedo and the cable its the speed buffer, turns the cable to an eletronic pulse for the ECM

people like the blacked out tach, and like i said 2 tachs (one thats not working or reading high as they tend to do) just looks plain dumb

if you didnt know any better you would think there was nothing where the tach was
