speedometer 84 Firebird
My friend has an '84 firebird with an 85 MPH speedo and he wants to put in a 145 MPH speedo if possible. Will any year's cable driven speedo fit in the dash and work? I saw on ebay a guy selling one, but his ad said '85 and up. I was wondering if there was a difference in shape, size, mounting holes, etc. that made any difference.

85 and up speedometers are not cable driven. They are electric with a gear driven sending unit on the trans via the ECM,
Hawks, I believe, finally has a speedometer for the cable driven units.
It is pricey though (comparitively)
