seat question on Z28
i have a 1985 Z28.........just recently purchased it, and am still getting to know her. question is this: the driver seat won't go back nearly as far as the passenger seat does. and it adjusts forward more also. i'm 6'1" and need the driver seat to adjust farther back. is this normal? is there something wrong with the track on my driver seat? is it possible that someone has bolted the driver seat in more of a forward position? thanks for any responses........rick

try this.. unbolt the seat and take it out make sure that the springs on the racks are connected and lube up the rack. make sure that theres nothing stuck in the rack that would stop it from going back. im also 6'1 and know the feeling of getting your knees smashed on the dash..

Re: seat question on Z28
sorry, forgot to mention, they are manual seats. that is a good idea about switching them! i will try that.....the driver seat just doesn't travel as far back as the passenger seat. that can't be normal, right?? thanks, rick
Re: seat question on Z28
yes they should both be the same -since you say it also goes further forward then I doubt it is just a problem with the tracks being stuck or somehow screwed up. Perhaps someone has modified the track, mounted it backwards, or used one from some other vehicle
the other advantage to swapping your seats from side to side is that the driuver seat is usually mcuh more worn and this will put the better shape seat in the high wear spot

u just cant switch the seat. the lever to recline the seat will be on the worng side making it hard if not impossible to recline or adjust. the best he could do is switch the racks

Re: seat question on Z28
ok guys, thanks for the feedback, good stuff! i will pull the seat this weekend and see if i can figure out what is going on....the gal (original owner) that we got it from was very short. maybe they turned the tracks around so to have the travel more forward. thanks again, rick
