1982 Firebird Tripometer **** and screw
Hello everyone,
I have a question about the tripometer **** and set screw for the 1982 Pontiac Firebird. Does anyone know why the **** and set screw is now chrome and not black? The part number is 14053344. However, according to the dealer, this part number changed in Feb 1982. I heard that it was painted black by GM. But that seems almost too cheap by GM.
Does anyone know anything about this?
And would anyone know where I could get this set screw in black?
Thanks,
Eric

Re: 1982 Firebird Tripometer **** and screw
The one in my old 83 was painted black. I assume it's cheaper to paint a piece of plastic black rather than going through the trouble of chrome plating it. Maybe check ebay for a gauge cluster, the 82-85 ones don't go for a whole lot of money.

Yeah...I may buy the whole cluster if I have to. But all I need is the black set screw inside of the tripometer ****. The one I have is chrome, and it stands out like a sore thumb because you can see the chrome set screw in the middle of my black trip ****.
