i found a 84 berlinetta digital dash that was just rebuilt for a restoration now the owner is parting out his berlintta. i was wondering if it will work in my 85 z28 will it be plug and play or does it need modifications or is it not worth it to put it in

 

I believe you'll have to replace all the sending units, and I think the wires on the firewall harness will be different for the digital dashes.

If you can get a wiring diagram for both years, you can compare them and see what's different. It's not hard to repin the harness to make it match with the other side of the harness.

 

The entire dash and center console are physically different. The turn signals, wipers, steering column, HVAC etc. are completely different. I believe the wiring would be a nightmare unless you moved everything over. If the dash or any other specialty components fail, then you're stuck paying a premium price for replacements. Many times they also do not work.
