'82 dash compatible to the one found in the '89?

'82 dash compatible to the one found in the '89?

visually they seem similar but is there any differences.
i need a dash for my '89 and i may get a good deal if not free from an '82

I'm guessing you're thinking about the interior? The interior is compatible? If so, then for the most part yes. The dashes themselves might not be, but the center console, , carpet, seats, panels, will swap...

The speedo wont because in 82 it was mechanical, in 89 its electronic.

You will need to pull the gauges, speedo, and tach ( Anything that you want to use ) from the 89 cluster and install them into your 82 cluster.

The 1989 clusters printed circuit is not completely compatable with the 1982-1984 dash harness. If you try to simply plug the 89 cluster into the 84 dash than you will have problems with the backlighting as well as the BRAKE warning light. ( look where the BRAKE light is located on Each cluster ! )

In a camaro the gauges are mechanical from 82-89 so it will work.90-92 camaro gauges are electronic
