Seat Belt Guide fix

I recently had to repair my cousin's seatbelt guides in his 88 GTA. The plastic piece that the screws thread into fell out and the guides were just hanging there.

Rather than take the entire headrest apart to try and get everything sorted, I just got some press-in drywall anchors and pressed them into the holes. Then screwed the guides into the anchors. Holds very well.

Just thought I'd share that simple fix for everyone who doesn't want to disassemble their entire headrest.

Re: Seat Belt Guide fix

they don't stick out?
I don't have that problem with mine...mine are cracked. If I get new ones, how will the seatbelt go through? remove from where it mounts?

When you buy replacements for your 92 from the dealership, they're split in the middle so you can slide them onto your existing belts, and they have an adapter that goes between the guide and the headrest.

Re: Seat Belt Guide fix

That's a great idea!

BTW,I've seen different styles, not sure if they're all original though. Some have a couple of offset screws that allow the seat belt to pass through before the second screw is attached while others do not.

This is a good idea. I might try this quick fix on my seat belt when needed. Thanks

Re: Seat Belt Guide fix

I am going to try this since it seams hard to get those half moon metal clips in and I lost one of them. I also came up with an idea, to stop the seat belts from sliding out of the guide by using a 1" long piece of fuel hose and since mine are black it is hard to notice. You could also use clear hose. I will send a pic later.

Re: Seat Belt Guide fix

I'm just going to update and say that these are still working as well as they did almost 3 years ago now.
