just a quick 4th gen gauge cluster question

i bought a 2002 trans am ws6 dashboard with gauges. are these computer controlled gagues or could i use them on my carb'd setup with the t56, basically just run off the sensors???? i am not worried about all those warning lights just the gauges. I was gonna go and buy autometer gauges but if i can wire those in i would prefer that.

and if so does anyone have a diagram or pinout for a 02 ws6 gauges?

The 02 uses a serial data wire to control the gauges. This is why people use the earlier gauges becuase they have separate wires to the sensors. I believe 98 was the last year before going to serial data.

i have a carbed engine and a t56 i think the tach signal is just like any other tach and you can run it off the msd ignition box if you have one or the negative on the coil? idk. and the speedo you can just come out of the speed sensor but on a 700r4 you might need some sort of converter box.

Please do not quote me on this since i have not done any of this yet and my car is still in pieces. I am no where close to installing the gauges yet.

Re: just a quick 4th gen gauge cluster question

many of the aftermarket electric speedos will take the vss signal and convert it correctly after your program the speedo. For the mechanical versions, you may have to play with the gearing in the tail housing to get it right.
