im in the process of installing dynamat and b-quiet sound deadener. over everything. floor,trunk, walls,doors etc...

but im concerned i need to wait.

i plan on having umi subframe connectors welded and installed whenever winter is over here in connecticut. which could be 2months from now

ive heard that some people had to remove their carpet because of the welding heat to avoid burning/fire.

---but my question is.... do i need to wait on putting dynamat in the front where the driver/passengers feet go until the subframes are in?


i only ask because id like to finish one project before moving to the next but also i dont wana keep my car in pieces while waiting for subframes.

but doing it the right way is usually the best way to go

 

I'm planning something similar and I'm gonna wait till the sub frames are in before I put in the dyno mat, just in case, especially since dyno mat uses a rubber side to adhere to the car

 

I was advised to pull my carpet back when my SFC's were installed. I'm glad I did cuz the floor was pretty hot. You may want to wait on the dynamat till the weldings done.

 

Definitely install/weld (even the bolt-on SFCs should be welded in place) the SFCs, before installing any Dynamat, insulation, carpet or anything.

Welding can very well burn up what you had just put in. Light the carpet on fire & there goes the whole car!

 

ok thanks guys, ive already did half the car in dynamat but just the rear seats to the trunk. i'll wait on the firewall/ front floor area until the welding is done.

i just was curious because i wondered what people do when they did dynamat and decided after the fact or yrs later or next owner decides to do SFC's ya know.

 

the guy welding could also not weld the connector all at one shot if he welds alittle at a time it'll create less heat and not burn the floor when i did my connectors i had the dnyomat installed and it actually helped it cause it burned to the floor for better adhesion since you have to use a heat gun to apply it
