Hey guys, the front seats in my 91 Trans Am convertible have kinda been worrying me. They swing forward (the backs) without even needing to pull the latch. You just push them and they go. I noticed that on hard stops that there is some sort of mechanism in them that stops em from swinging forward more than an inch or two but I still kinda question this. Does this happen to anybody? Was it like this from factory? I have the seats out of the car now so I'd like to see what's wrong if there is anything.

Ok, but what makes me really wonder is why there are handles there if you don't need em lol.

 

They're there so that when you park on an incline, your passengers in the back seat aren't trapped.

 

One of GM engineer's had a bad day when this system was designed for 3rd gen seats.
