getting exhaust in my car

i have an iroc and i think my hatch seal is leaking. if i roll my windows up the exhaust will kill me. is it posible that the rubber is old and smashed and letting the carbon flow into my car. i have new exhaust pipes, i've replaced all of the rubber plugs. i resealed all of the seams. has anyone else had this problem?

Re: getting exhaust in my car

could be the hatch weatherstripping, also make sure that the exhaust is getting out from under the bumper. make sure the exhaust pipe is blowing the exhaust out from under the car and not letting it build up underneith the rear bumper. Not sure if it helps but thats all i can think of.

Are you sure it isnt leaking through your firewall? Maybe the end of one of you headers isnt quite bolted down. Missing gasket?

Or perhaps a rust spot on a floor pan is letting a leak in?

If your exhaust is that thick, I cant see it being the hatch weatherstripping.

Is it possible your floor boards are rotted through because of rust? If you have big rust holes in your floor probably exhaust fumes could get in. Espically if your exhaust system has any leaks in it like mine.

Hello mpb74!!

If it was coming in your car through the rear hatch weatherstrip, your weatherstrip would have to be missing........having said that, have you checked the body drain plugs? If they are missing, the exhaust that gets under the car will find its way into the car via these missing plugs!!
