4th gen console shift boot
I recently installed a console from an 02 F-body (TA, I think) into my 87. All fits as well as it's going to for the moment. Loving the cupholders, but haven't used them yet, same for the dual power plugs
. Anyways, the console is missing 2 parts: the shift boot and the armrest/door. I'm not worried about the door right now, I'll find a way to make one. The shift boot, on the other hand, has me stumped. I bought a replacement boot, but it's just the leather part. Is there a trim ring or something that goes on the shift plate around the boot or something I'm missing? I have nothing to hold the boot in place at the moment other than the shifter, but that doesn't help much without the ring or whatever it is I'm missing.
Can someone with a currently uninstalled console post pics of how the shift boot is installed in the 6-speed upper console?

Nobody knows how the shift boot attaches to the late 4th gen shift plate?

there is a plastic trim that surrounds the inside of the leather boot and snaps into the console plate.

Yep... visited the Hawks site and figured that out. I don't know why I keep going there. I can get both the whole boot and the cover plate where the TCS/2nd gear start switch is for just about the same price from GMpartsdirect.com...

There was a member on LS1tech or Camaroz28.com that was making and selling a metal shift boot clip since the plastic ones have a tendancy of breaking. I think it was in the neighborhood of $25 for it.
