Fatmat sound deadener 2" thick??

I am about to buy 100sq ft of fatmat sound deadener and could not help but notice that they advertise it being 50mil thick, thats like 2"!! That seems awfully thick to me. If I cover my floors, hatch, sail panels with this stuff, am i going to be able to put the center console and plastics back in properly? Seems like with all that space gone the interior is going to be noticably smaller. I have a new ACC carpet kit without mass backing ready to go in on top. I was thinking that the little bit of jute that came on the underside of the new carpet im going to pull off to compensate. Fatmat seems to be the only deadener that can be had for a reasonable price here in Canada so im not sure what the thickness is of the competitor's mats. Any thoughts?
