Re: Installing Rear Hatch Release
I have thought about adding that option to my 83... was told by a old gm tech that its pretty easy to use the pull down motor/ release from a camaro and just run the wire along the harness for the lights up to the dash and put in a momentary push button...
I'll subscribe to find out more..

Re: Installing Rear Hatch Release
I added mine from a donorcar, that had this button. Basically you will need a solenoid, that is powerful enough to unlock the lock in hatch release, and then run wiring to your button, that provides +12V(solenoid I used got its ground from its body so, no extra wire needed for ground). From the button the wire goes to relay "out" pin. To the relay "in"-pins you'll need a +12v and ground from gear lever(that is needed to prevent hatch opening, when you are in "D") This how it worked for me. When I researched it, then it seemd to me that it is possible to use horn relay but i couldnt tell for sure, I got it from a donorcar. And before you pick your solenoid, check the clearence with the polster. I had to cut the polster to make room for the solenoid from a 84 to fit to the 87 with a pull-down motor. Hope this helps
