New shifter, but does it fit?

Axle/Gears: 10 bolt w/ 3.73 gears
New shifter, but does it fit?

Hey i just bought a B&M Z-Gate shifter: http://www.bmracing.com/PRODUCTS/Per...Z-Gate-Shifter

will this fit my car? 83 camaro, 305 auto trans, i believeee its a 700r4 i guess? i only paid 30 bucks off a friend so no biggie if it doesnt, but can i put it on there?

it wont be a direct drop in, so you may need to make some brackets to mount the shifter. it also will not fit the current shifter plate, so you'll need to modify the opening to get it to fit

yea, i figured it wouldnt fit the shifter plate..not too worried bout that lol, but im not very good at welding to make some brackets, any good ideas? maybe self tap screws into the floor? im not worried bout how high it sits..

another question lol, i have some wires going to the stock shifter as well, will this affect how it shifts now if i just disconnect em and not use them with the new shifter? also, i have 2 shifter cables, one goes to the trans and one goes to the steering column for the key, can i just leave the key shifter hang down and not connect it?

If that's the cable that i think it is, I've actually done that myself. That's some kind of safety cable that's supposed to keep you from shifting while you're driving down the road or something.
