Rear hatch constantly pulling down

After multiple batteries losing their charge I'm pretty sure I found out why but do not know how to fix it.
The rear hatch motor operates fine, kinda. it opens fine with switch but it wont close until I press and hold down the switch inside the latch assembly. it goes down then comes back to its norm position. then I'm able to shut it normally and it locking in place. So I think everything is normal now, but i ear a SLIGHT sound of something pulling. No motor noises just a very quiet sound something snug.
So I'm pretty sure it is this. I have disconnected all the wires leading to the hatch motor to prevent more battery drains. Which leaves my hatch open and bouncing around when I drive.
So if anyone knows any remedies for this please inform me.
Thank you.

I've heard that a bad motor gear will leave the motor running constantly. Pull your motor assembly out, and take the clear plastic gear housing apart and see if the plastic gear that goes on the motor still has any teeth on it.

It's not hard to take apart. I'm working on mine at the moment. It takes about 15 minutes and a half dozen screws.

Mine was doing that as well, the rear plastic interior piece wasnt screwed down properly. I screwed it in place and she stopped humming.

Re: Rear hatch constantly pulling down

I will try both of your responses because both I think will make a difference. 1. Because I'm almost positive the gear or something internal is messed up. And 2. All my hatch interior pieces are just hanging there... thanks.

Or you could not waste all that time and just order a new one. Or got to a junk yard or ebay and get a used one.
