i cant find any carpet i can afford for my 88 iroc, will fourth gen carpet fit in a thirdgen? cause i found some for a fourth gen? i have had both third and fourth gen cars but can it be done?

 

the rear carpet may work, but the floor in the front is different. You may be able to "make" it work, but it most likely wont look good.

save you money for the right stuff

 

With a little trimming it will work. Essentially 3rd and 4thgens look the same from an undercarriage view. Lay it in and trim where necessary.

 

it's a 90% fit. You'll have to cut new holes for the front seatbelt receivers and the lower seatbelt retractor. If you're looking to just replace your 3rd gen front section and leave the hatch area, cut the 4th gen carpet at the end of the tranny cover where the 3rd gen carpet section ends. The only other area that isn't a perfect fit is on the passenger side floor... the dip in the 4th gen carpet isn't quite as deep as the dip in the 3rd gen floor board, but it's a very small difference.

Cliff's Notes: It'll absolutely work very well for a free or very cheap used carpet and required minimal changes. If you can afford new, get the right 3rd gen carpet.

 

I used 4th gen carpet because I deleted the rear seats and didnt want the carpet seam where the seats used to be,4th gen carpet goes farther back. Clic on my name and checkout the album photos theres a pic of where the carpet bunches up slightly on the passenger side seat bolt otherwise I thought it fit very well.
