dead 4th gen power seat?
I have seats in my car out of a 99 camaro in my 89 rs
all of a sudden the power drivers seat is dead. No signs of life with any lever or switch.
I've verified there is still getting 12v of power to the seat, but after that, what could be wrong? Can all three motors go out at the same time? I could see one motor dying, or one of the three switches going out, but all three at the same time?
any help for troubleshooting would be appreciated

Re: dead 4th gen power seat?
Do you have the harness that goes between the seats? Does the passenger's bolsters and lumbar still work? How about the lumbar/bolsters on the driver's seat?
Or do you have nothing at all...
If you have nothing at all, the seats arent getting power. Somewhere between the place you checked and found power, and where the power distributes to the seats workings there is a short or broken wire.
Im not 100% sure how the power distributes inside those seats...never really looked into mine too much.

I checked the wire right at the harness that goes into the seat... it has 12V, just 3 inches away from the motor. I double checked the ground too
no power at all... totally dead. now I'm wondering about the switch

Re: dead 4th gen power seat?
Not sure if they'll help you, but I posted some wiring diagrams for 4th gen seats in this thread...
https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/inte...ire-6-pin.html
From what I see, the orange wire brings 12v into the seats, then is split to the different controls. It LOOKS to me like even if the position switches stopped working, the lumbar circuits would still have power. Thats what was making me thinking it was a power issue. I would also think you'd lose a couple directions...not everything if the position switch started to fail. Because its actually 3 switches. A 4-way toggle, and two 2-ways.
But thats just the schematics...I cant comfirm how the things are actually wired internally. If you sign onto Autozone's website, and go into repair info, you can actually get these schematics, and the other schematics for the seats. Its from ALLData so its pretty accurate info.

I appreciate the link, but my seat one had two wires, that diagram looks more complicated than mine. I don't have all that lumbar stuff.
I'll see if I can dig for the correct one, thanks

Re: dead 4th gen power seat?
The diagram seems complicated, but they are just taking it one circuit at a time. Its describing the set up for all 4th gen seats. Power and ground goes to the driver's side. Then its distributed throughout the seat and over to the passenger side for the lumbar stuff.
Ive never seen a 4th gen seat without the lumbar/bolster switches for both sides....but I guess there might be some out there. If so...then Im not much help then haha.
