Making own Headliner need help

i am a 17 year old and just got my license and my 1989 firebird came with out a headliner. i have called countless junk yards and searched countless website looking for a cheap replacement. i have come to the conclusion that i will contruct my own. my plan is to make the under piece out of some material(need suggestions) and the bring it to an upholstery shop and have it coverd

i need help with the size( diagram of measurements maybe) and what to make it out of.

Re: Making own Headliner need help

Im sure not what you want to hear but.....Go buy a new one. Its going to be almost impossible to make one that will fit right....The new ones are plastic and come covered and ready to install...
