4th gen Camaro parts into a 3rd gen Trans Am?
I've recently acquired a 1999 Camaro SS with no intention of ever fixing it, but more or less to sell the parts to friends with the same body style (except for the engine... That LS1's looking pretty good right about now
). Anyway, while taking it apart my mind began to wonder weather or not certain parts of the car can be used to replace worn/broken parts on my 3rd gen Trans Am. At first I started to look at the seats because they are in pristine condition and the same color as my interior, then I began to wonder about things like the hood/hatch struts. So I guess my question is to you how much can you transplant from a 4th gen to a 3rd gen? And can I transplant the parts I had mentioned above?

this topic has amost been beaten to death!! search and you find out many things about it. the seats are a direct swap. unbolt the old and bolt in the new. if its a manual tranny then you can swap the consoles out pretty easilly. you can put the door panels and dash in but they arent a direct swap you have to make them fit your application. motors and tranny swap but it takes modification to make them fit as well. wheels and tires will fit but youll need wheel spacers(i believe 2" will do..someone correct me if im wrong). as far as body panels go..ive seen the spoiler swapped but i think thats about it. the exterior door handles can be swapped..not much difference but smoother looking. with a little imajination and fabrication you can make anything fit anywhere. i love seeing thirdgens with the LS1 in them. id do it but im poor folk! lol
