Rear seat back interchangability
I'm pretty sure the rear seats for Firebirds and Camaros are interchangable throughout the entire thirdgen years. Am I correct? The reason I ask, is that I have wanted some of those split rear seat backs. Today I was at a junkyard that had an '84 Firebird and an '85 Camaro that both had split rear seat backs. Just wanted to make sure they would fit in my '91 GTA before I went and removed them.

You can put the solid back seat in a split back car, but you can't put the split backs in a solid rear car. There are welded in brackets that hold the split back seats in the center at the tranny tunnel hump.

Is it possible to bolt that middle bracket in place? Or to fab a new one to weld/bolt in?

The split rear center brackets are spot welded in, but nothing says they can't be cut them out & put in a solid rear seat car.

You could remove the bracket from the donor car and have it welded into yours. I grabbed one but had to use a chisel since they don't allow cutting tools, but it's just a few spot welds. The trick would be locating where the bracket needs to go on your car. Could try measuring it's location before removing it.
