Removing Door panel/ fixing handle

Hey everybody,
The other night the exterior door handle on my drivers door stopped working so I am assuming something is broke/unhooked on the inside of the door. Two questions..I am going to remove the door panel to take a closer look I have never removed a door panel on a third gen before is it just the basic clips going into the door setup?...Second once I get inside the door is the door handle mechanism for the exterior handle easily accessible to work on? Or is it blocked off by something in the way?
Thanks for any help

There are a number of how-to's floating around. A search will no doubt turn them up. The following link may be generally informative, especially post #10 which shows a shop manual diagram of the area in question:

Taking the door panel off is pretty straight forward but you'll need a torx screw driver for those trim screws. The rods that connect the handle to the latch are not hard to see but you do have to kinda of twist your arm up in there.

Ok im gonna tear it apart tommorow afternoon to see what is going on in there..im guessing its most likely gonna be that my clip holding the rod to the exterior handle is broke/fell off..and if its broke im kinda screwed since i dont have a spare one laying around..

Re: Removing Door panel/ fixing handle

The Help section of most parts stores carries a set of assorted lock rod clips for a few bucks. I'm pretty sure that one or two will fit our cars.
