Different Seat Belt Buckles?

Hi,
I have a question for those of you who are familiar with that kind of stuff.
My belt buckles look horrible and before buying original ones I was wondering if there are some from other cars (Cadillacs, GMC, Chevy, etc) that will work with our cars' seat belts.

I'd like something a little nicer than the stock ones, maybe something with a GM emblem.

I asked at my local shop but they basically told me that I just have to try what works and what doesn't.
And I would but here it'd be kinda expensive. After all, there's no junkyard I can go to. It's all just VW, BMW, etc here.

So any help would be very appreciated!

Thanks in advance,
Fabian

Re: Different Seat Belt Buckles?

As far as the latch part(where the belt clicks in), that should be pretty standard across any GM product. Where it bolts to the floor is going to be the hard-to-find part. I would start with looking at 4th or 2nd gen Camaros or Firebirds. The 2nd gen should have the GM logo on them, not sure about the 4th gen though.

You could also check older Chevy/GMC pickup trucks, 87 or older.

Most 85 and older GM products used standard buckles with the GM logo on them. You would just need to check the mounting hole on them and the length to make sure you will be able to reach them once they are installed between the seat and the center console.

I've read where the 4th gen buckles are same, but I have 2 sets of 4th gen seat belts and neither have the same buckle - looks alot alike, but my 3rd gen buckles won't fit into those 4th gen receivers.

The ones I have in the front of my car are out of a 2003 Chevy Cavalier, and fit the Factory Seat Belt.

Only Pic I have online right now:

MN, did those front seat belt receivers from the '03 Cavalier bolt right in, no problems? They look perfectly fine to me in the pic you posted ... I'd like to replace my fronts, and maybe even the rears if I can find suitable replacements at a good price.

They are the Passenger Front Receivers from the Cavalier, Bolted right in. I have one on both the Driver and Passenger front seat.

The Drivers seat one on the cavaliers mount to the Seat Tacks, and wouldn't have worked right.

Re: Different Seat Belt Buckles?

That's great info ... Thanks for sharing! I'll have to see if I can track down a GM'ish online site that would sell something like that.

Q: Are you sure you want TWO passenger units? A: Yes, I'm sure!
