Need your guys help with door panel - upper panel plastic studs
Hey Guys, so I've spent the last hour and a half searching the threads for a fix, but I havn't found anything. My problem is that I am redoing my door panels, and when I seperated the black plastic upper panel that covers the inside top of the door from the hardboard panel, I broke some of the plastic studs off. I found one thred where a guy said there was a member on TGO that had a real trick fix for this problem, but he didnt say what it was and I havn't been able to find anything. Anyone have a good way to fix this problem? Just for clarification - they are the plastic studs that are part of the plastic panel, and are used with upside down speed nuts to hold the main portion of the door panel to the plastic panel. Thanks for any help!

I have long fought with the "best fix" idea. I keep coming back to replacing the plastic studs with a screw or bolt. I just did not want visible screw heads. So I debated about installing the bolts and then recovering the piece with a high end black vinyl with a bit of padding to mask the screw heads. Though then came the issue of dealing with the darn dew wipe. You have to remove and reinstall it.

I can't wait to see how yours hold up over time. My issue was that my sills started to warp and pull up on the ends. There were no pins on the ends to correct the issue. The were separating from the dew wipes and everything

I foresee it holding for a long time. The door panel isn't held up by it so there isn't too much strain. The door panel is held up by the interior pins.
One thing I found out is that the length I have of the bolts is perfect. They are long enough to push through the material but do not come in contact with the metal door. And the epoxy works good as I was able to use a ratchet to tighten down the nuts and washers without breaking the bolts loose.
