Car: 1986 Trans Am

Engine: 305

Transmission: 700R4

86 Trans Am Console

I have a 1986 Trans Am. I bought a new shifter plate. I found out there is a button that goes underneath the console lid. It has electrical contacts on the bottom side. Can anyone tell me what that is and what it does? Thanks.

It is the console switch for the light under the console lid .
