The wheel in my 91 is destroyed - Not only is it not the leather wheel, but the airbag has the classic, shrinking cover and just looks ugly.

I bought a 99 T/A wheel that I'll be swapping in. I was hesitant to get one originally, as I wanted a 3rdgen 3spoke more, but for $20, I had to try it. It should be here this week.

Just curious is anyone else has a 93+ 'bird wheel in their 3rdgens. I searched and couldn't find anything except Zepher's 4thgen Camaro wheel in his '86.

 

I installed a 4th gen airbag wheel in the 1990 Camaro I used to have. It's a direct swap, except for the connector for the airbag, the 4th gen airbag connector is smaller, so you'll have to get a 4th gen body-side connector, or use your thirdgen wheel side connector, or just splice the wires directly and solder them good. I have no idea about the radio controls if you have that wheel - camaros never had radio controls on the wheel.

 

Yeah, I haven't figured out the whole radio control stuff.... I'm not interested in making it work, but maybe I can make a 'delete' for it.

 

if you got a 93-96 wheel, you could get radio control deletes. i dont think the 98-02 wheels ever didnt come with radio controls. not sure what wheel 97 got.

i have a 96 grand prix wheel i believe, of which is identical to the bird wheels.

 

Alot of the GM vehicles had the same steering wheels, with slight differences. My wife used to have a 1995 Chevy Lumina Mini Van, and it had an identical steering wheel as the 4th gen Camaro wheel but in Blue, and didn't have the CAMARO embossed on the air bag, it had CHEVROLET embossed instead.

I put a 92 Bonneville wheel in, pretty much the same thing as a 93-94 bird wheel.

 

I got the wheel today - Holy hell it's heavy. Seeing it in real life... I'm not sure how its gonna look in the car. I'll probably test fit it tomorrow...

I got the 4thgen wheel installed today. It looks pretty good, although its like an inch or so bigger in circumference. I like the look better than the 90-92 'bird wheel, but I may eventually go to a std. 3 spoke 'bird wheel. This one will do fine for now; Its leather and in better shape. The new wheel didn't come with the wires for the horn, so I'll figure that out later. Also, the ABS connector is completely different - Since I have no intentions of hooking it up, I'll just remove the bulb for the IRS indicator on the dash.
