Gauge size?

I am attempting to build a custom gauge cluster for my 86 IROC. I am going to remove autometer sport comp gauges from their cups and carefully mount them in place of the original gauges in my cluster. I need to know, does anyone know if the 2 1/16 gauges will properly fit BEHIND the original black gauge bezel or do I need 1 1-2. Autometer only sells 2 1/16 and I am having a very hard time finding anything to match the 5 in tach and speedo I bought.

Re: Gauge size?

When I was going to make a custom panel I could not imagine fitting a 5 inch tack and speedo along with having 4 other gauges. I did not want any gauge pod. So it was the smaller Autometers for me. When I had collected them all and was ready to do it I had found Covan's Classics gauge panels. IMO though they are just too over priced.
If I do it again it is going to be how I originally planed, the gauges in an aluminum panel that I just cut out to match the OE.

Why don't you consider making a panel with some aluminum and if its the black you want, paint it with some wrinkle finish.
And the holes in the original panel just blocked too much of the Autometer gauge for my liking.
