Help, accidentally painted vinyl

So, I got a 4th gen center console for my firebird and I painted it with rustoleum plastic paint. It came out great except for the flip top. I didn't realise that it would react different to the paint. I have let it sit for a day or so and the paint is still really sticky on that part. Any one have a suggestion on how to remove the paint or get it to not be so sticky?

Re: Help, accidentally painted vinyl

i've never dealt with something like that but lets start off somewhat easy and then get crazier.

first try warm soap and water, using a lot of elbow grease i was able to get spray paint off of my car.

if you just want the stickyness gone try Goo Gone, not sure how if it would remove the paint, but it could get rid of the stickyness.

and last, i'm not 100% if you would want to try this as i do not know what effect (if any) it would have on the vinyl, but you could apply paint thinner.

*Just ideas you don't have to do them and if something does go wrong dont come after me lol

paint thinner then get some meguiars interior protectant/shine to get the shine back because it will be dull after paint thinner

NO!!! Use Graffiti wipes. Available at almost any home improvement store, they will resemble baby wipes (Some smell like bubble gum.) They shouldnt hurt the underlying vinyl.

Re: Help, accidentally painted vinyl

Use laquer thinner. That should take the paint right off !
Wipe it down wet and let it soak..................

CAUTION: Use in a WELL ventilated area and no smoking fire or flame!

The reason its sticky is it was not prepped/cleaned correctly.
Common issue with soft plastic/vinal stuff.
