I built a custom sub box for the 3g camaro and recently found out that the box doesn't fit all camaros the same. does anyone know if there is a difference in the trunk of some camaro/firebirds, versus others, ex: is the trunk the same for the z28 vs non z28 or t-top camaros vs non t-top? any help would be great, Thanks!!!

 

82-85 and 86-92 are going to be different. As the Rear Panel was changed due to the introduction of the Power Pull Down Assembly in 86

 

I included a photo of the box that fits on the left in an 88 camaro, and the box on the right is in a 92 firebird base model. the box is also not fitting in an 88 camaro IROC. any ideas? i noticed some suttle differences in the pictures but i'm completely stumped. PLEASE HELP!

 

Like mentioned above - your pic on the left does not have the hatch pull-down motor, but on the right it does. The rear plastic is deeper to house the pull-down hatch motor.

You'll have to modify your box to fit.

 

so not all the 86 - 92 models have the pull down motor?

 

It is possible someone converted to the non power latch Like I did. And I will do it on any other 3rd gen I get, if I get another First Thing! Otherwise, From the factory all 86-92's had them.
