How common/hard to switch to a elec speedo?

My 86 just so happened to be mech (Base Bird). I have my harness off at Jons (Pocket) and said a simple box would make the fit. Bad part is its $300. Simple but I figured I will ask how easy it is to swap over or worth the hassle?

Also my base bird came with a base cluster (85mph/Gas Gauge). I would atleast want a rpm cluster. Would a tbi cluster with a rpm, info gauges be a straight swap in like later years?

Thanks for any help.

I just swapped in t56 and used autometer speedo-a simple calibration process and all is good. Well and running one wire to ground and the other to the back of the speedo. But that includes a whole trans swap/conversion lol
