Hatch Motor I know another one

Alright well all my searching is coming to a "my motor doesnt move." Well mine moves up, down, and releases. However when I close the hatch the motor pulls it down but keeps trying to pull even when its down as far as it can go. When I push down with my finger the motor pulls down and stops like it suppose to.
Is there some sort of sensor that could make the motor keep pulling when the hatch is locked into the motor???

When standing at the rear, looking down at the motor assembly - on your left, there is a little tab looking thing. When the motor rises, this "tab" hits a spot that "flips" that tab the other way - it's a switch. Watch it - it gets flipped one direction when it rises, and gets flipped the other direction when it goes down.

That switch switches power from one side of the hatch extend relay to the other side. essentially turning on/off that relay. Make sure that switch is operating properly and is hitting and flipping.

Otherwise, might try a new hatch extend relay - part number D1703A at Advance Auto: http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/web..._994337793____

Re: Hatch Motor I know another one

Your hatch pull-down unit may be set too low on the body. When it closes at teh end of the down cycle you must hear a CLICK which is the reversing switch being tripped to shut off the down cycle. Have you replaced the rear hatch seal? The aftermarket ones may be thicker and causing the problem. Mark the existing location of the frame with a permanent marker, then loosen the three 13mm screws and raise the pull-down unit. Tighten the screws and test it by closing the hatch. You want to adjust it until the hatch just seals, not trying to crush the seal. If you put too much pre-load on the pull-down unit by having it set too low the plastic motor housing will break when the car hits a pothole or crosses railroad tracks.

Re: Hatch Motor I know another one

Bringing this one back---

I *think* this could be a problem for battery draining for those of us with the pull down!! If you have battery drain problem, try this---

Open the hatch then close it.
Listen for the click--no click, then wait for a few mins--if you hear clicking now, it's not because the hatch is closed, it's the pull down cycling to close. After about 2 or 3 clicks, it stops---wait a few mins--it does it again!!
Is this a bad realy symptom?
OR
As lonsal advises, adjustment to the pull down?
OR could it be both??

musclecars90--
Did you find the problem? What was your finding & how did it get fixed??
