Dark Brown Seatbelt Replacement
I just recently bought an 84 Trans Am thats all original. Has a few minor issues. One being the passenger side seatbelt won't retract into the ceiling. The interior is very nice on this car but seems quite rare. It looks like they only had the dark brown interior in 83 and 84. Its tough to find replacement components in dark brown besides the headliner and carpet. I have another 84 T/A I'm using as a parts car but it has tan belts. I haven't had time to really look into it yet but can the retractors be repaired? or can I just replace the retractor without changing the seatbelt? Or would it just be easier to wait for a dark brown seatbelt to show up somewhere and just replace the whole thing. My interior is really nice and I've only been able to find one dark brown seatbelt on Ebay and its kind of faded and I'd hate to install it when the rest of the interior is flawless. I'm just curious if anyone knows of any parts places that has more than black or grey replacement seatbelts.

Re: Dark Brown Seatbelt Replacement
So I found a possible fix on here to get my seatbelt to retract again. I'll try it in the morning and post how it turns out. Hopefully I won't need to replace my seatbelt afterall!

Re: Dark Brown Seatbelt Replacement
well it looks like my problem is on the other side of the retractor that has the wound "clock" spring. The cap that says do not remove had fallen off the retractor. I didn't have a whole lot of time to look at it. Maybe I can get it back on and glue it back in place. The spring isn't physically broken. Does anyone have any experience working on this "clock" spring on the seat belt retractor?
