4th gen carpet?
4th gen carpet?
So I'm fixing up my Firebird's interior. I found a 4th gen Firebird being parted and I know I can use the seats out of it, but can I use the carpet as well? Maybe with just some trimming?

Re: 4th gen carpet?
Don't. I don't know if the 4th gen will fit, but even if it does, it is an absolute nightmare. While replacing my seats with 4th gen ones, I decided to get new carpet from stockinteriors.com. You wouldn't believe how hard it is it remove/reinstall all of the interior bits when replacing carpet.
The seats were so easy to install, it would have taken less than 1 hour. With the seats removed, you would be surprised how much dirt and crud you have under them. 30 minutes with a shop vac and resolve will do wonders for your old carpet when you have the seats removed. As it was, removing and reinstalling the carpet took about 20 hours.

Re: 4th gen carpet?
The dimensions of 4th gens are different than 3rd gens. So the carpet wouldnt line up. You could still put it in there, but I wouldnt recommend it.
Re: 4th gen carpet?
I currently have 4th gen carpet in my 92. It "kinda" fits, but you have to trim and use a heat gun on the passenger front floorboard because the humps are different in shape. I only did it cause it was free and I didn't have any carpet to begin with. If I were to do it again, id buy 3rd gen carpet.
