need help with temp gauge
If this is not the right place to post, mods please feel free to move
Well my mechanic said i have a bad temperature gauge but he used a thermometer and measured the temp from the radiator. My buddy said that the temp from motor and radiator are completely different. So what i want to know is how can i test my gauge so i know it reads right. thanks guys -Aaron

Re: need help with temp gauge
the best way is to either try a diiferent gauge(aftermarket) or get a infared themometer and and try pointing it at different spots on motor radiator spout etc

Re: need help with temp gauge
Maybe just needs a new temp sender - it's in the driver head between #1 & #3 spark plugs - has a single green wire to it.

Re: need help with temp gauge
ok well i have all new sensors and senders and all that stuff inside. i read somewhere that i could get a reading from my computer. im not that car savy just yet and i wanna try that approach before i have to buy a new guage or an infrared reader. how would i be able to get a reading from the computer? i would have to plug in a scanner to the OBDII port under the dash right?
thanks -Aaron

Re: need help with temp gauge
If it's a v6 it would be in the front top corner on the drivers side head close to the a/c compressor.
Mailman818,
