GTA door panel fabric
GTA door panel fabric
The door panels on my '89 TTA are in nice shape, but sometimes, depending on humidity and temperature, the fabric insert sags. It appears to be ultrasonically welded into the door panel. Anyone have any tips on how to deal with this? I may just buy another set of used ones, and do some custom leather. But, I'd also like a nice set of OE ones.

if its still in salvageable shape and you want to mess with it, take off the door panel and reglue it all
Re: GTA door panel fabric
I don't think I can. It's welded to the vinyl which is glued to the panel. Is the vinyl foam backed? It just seems like it will be a mess if I take it apart to that degree. Maybe I can find a set to practice/learn with.

I'm not really sure how you would do it. Luckily mine are still in good shape, but I know the day will come when the fabric starts separating. It does look like the fabric and vinyl are somehow melted together. Its probably a job for a professional upholsterer, unless you switch to the flat base Firebird/Camaro style.
