When you installed your gauges into your pod, did you use the backing brackets that came with the gauges or did you just snug the gauges into the pod holes? I'm having a hard time getting the bolts onto the backing plate inside the pod (hitting parts of it). I'm wondering if I need to discard the backing plates and just shove the gauges into the holes.

I dont believe you can use the brackets....Ide be surprised if you were actually able to get em in there.

The gauges are designed to be an interference fit. And the pod is sized as such. You SHOULD be able to just press them in. I fyou look at the gauge body, you'll see it is slightly larger in diameter near the bezel. Mine (Phantoms) fit nice and snug and have been in my pod for quite a few years now. I remember I pushed them in slightly, got them rotated and lined up, then pushed them in all the way and they were tight. I did notice that the one opening is slightly more loose, I think because Ive switched the gauge out a few times, and the tolerences of the pod have opened up some.

If they dont seem to stay in, you can try using a small dab of super glue, or CA glue, or even hot glue. NOT ALOT. If you use a small dab, it'll be enough to hold it, but it will still be possible to remove the gauge without breaking anything. Sort of like a tack weld. I believe Ive read that in autometer's instructions somewhere at some point.

I'm running the dual pod with no brackets. My 2 1/16 autometers fit very snug.
