Great, glad you got there in the end! So the big question - was it worth the hassle - did the windows get any quicker?

That's a good question. I did the relays along with a total door restoration. I cleaned and lubricated the tracks, adjusted the window, and replaced the motors. The windows are much, much faster but I cannot say with certainty that the relays had a big effect. Either way I'm very happy with the results.

I just has a good opportunity at the time - dash out and looms apart - to run big fat wires everywhere, given my observations of the voltage drops.

In my case, the wiring upgrade was enough to give me nicely quick window performance, so I stopped there. It's like anything - the fix will be correcting whatever the problem was.
Not trying to revive a old post but this caught my eyes. I have a 1992 poniac firebird and I am planing to run relays to my windows as I have my dash out and car gutted right now.

I bought this relay to start off with my wiring(12 volt 30 amp) . I'm going to test it to make sure it pops like it is suppose to

I plan on using your wire diagram. I understand that there is voltage drop in the wires and get the idea of running a 8 gauge wire to help , but what exactly is that module that they were talking and how dose it help?Is there something else I can do besides running relays to help?

I don't know why everyone is so worried about lightning speed windows, I had problems with my windows a couple years ago and replaced them with after markets and they sucked, and two years later one burnt out. So I recently replaced them with a couple ACDelco motors I found on ebay for cheaper than aftermarket (got lucky) and Im very happy with the speed of the windows.
