General Interior Advice?

Hi all,
I've come a loooong way with the Z over the years, a little at a time when I could best afford it....I've rebuilt the original engine, installed an upgraded trans, and then ended up getting an entire new engine which was rebuilt twice and now has a blower.

After that, I had the entire car custom painted in Dupont pepper metallic gray and added wheels/tires this summer along with a few suspension goodies. I still have some parts sitting around for winter installation (LCARBS,800 CFM Carb,Headers,MSD Boost Retard,) to name most of them.

I decided long ago that my car will never be close to a 10 point show car by any means, but I think it'll hold it's own in the local-yolkle car shows...it's different from the norm, heavily modded and draws a few looks. I'm cool with that.

But - now that I've done all this, it really clarifies the weakest point of my car...the interior. When I got the car, it was basically on it's way to the dump, but I saw potential in it somehow. It sat in a driveway for no less than 6 years (maybe more) outside in all 4 seasons. All my interior plastics are discolored, faded, cracked - you get the idea. Besides, not many pristine 83 interiors out there anyway.

What's my best option??...hope I find interior pieces and mix and match the best I can? Or maybe find a complete interior out of a newer (relative) thirdgen?

I've put in a nice ABS headliner, visors and sail panels already...which are now the nicest things inside, but they're all light gray (my original interior color was "Sand gray"...

Looking for any advice...

Re: General Interior Advice?

dont think anyone makes repops of the int plastics. so that only leaves 2 options. peices from doner car(s), or fix (or remake) them yourself. you can repaint plastics with a plastic specific paint. but that doesnt fix cracked plastics. the prep work is what makes or brakes the painting of the int plastics.

Not a bad idea, but I've posted there before. It's probably one of the least looked at areas on this whole site. Heck, do aa search and you'll probably find some of my unanswered stuff from years ago! lol

Don't get me wrong, I might try to do just that. What have some of you other guys done to get a nice interior together? Update it with 4th and 5th gen stuff? Only caveat to that is, I would rather stay with my original 3rd ten dash and console.
