Do you have the $400 reproduction dash pad? If so, I'd love to see some pictures of yours and hear your feedback on the quality of it. Talking to a vendor (was close to ordering) and he stated he could get it but didn't list it due to poor quality...

 

I know when I had ordered one from Classic Ind. for my TA, they were No Stocked due to Research and development,so apparently they are having trouble with them,so I would assume the same with the Camaro ones also.

 

What a terrible problem to have. I need a dash pad and am ready to spend money on it but want something good quality...

Anyone have any thoughts?

Yes - and I can't see how good it comes out considering they are adding foam and vinyl on top of your old dash. Chances are it looks thicker then it's supposed to.

I have seen some of their dashes and have been really impressed with the work. Looks totally stock.

 

It will probably cost about $400 to $500? That is on average for them and they are excellent at matching the factory grain. The chinese dash pad has a different grain pattern and overall much cheaper construction.

ast summer, I met a gentleman a few towns away who is the original owner of a beautiful 85 IROC survivor car. Frustrated with the aftermarket repops, he send his pad to Just Dashes. After talking a bit, we compared his 'restored' pad with an original. I'll admit, his Just Dashes pad looked great from 10' away, but up close the differances were very obvious. The grain in the vinyl wasn't even close, the speaker cut-outs were a joke. The only thing they got half-way right was the plastic side vents which were the repop ones avaibable to everybody.

He paid $750 for the 'restoration' plus $180 in round trip shipping. Needless to say, hes' not happy.

I'm glad I did some reading on the reproduction pads before buying, I was ready to add it to my cart. Although I am a bit perplexed that nothing of decent quality is available.

 

You can call Classic and see if the Camaro pad is available,the Firebird wasn't,maybe their are no issues with the Camaro pads.

 

I just emailed them about the pad. Will advise.

 

There is a guy in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada who has a yard full (100's)of 1st to 4th gen Camaros. The business is called David T's Camaro and Firebird. He has a web site or his number is 780 454 3330. He has all of the little, obscure parts that are hard to find.

got an awesome one on ebay for $200.... as perfect on new. Had to fight through a couple auctions but it was well worth it. Since it came out of another car, the fit is perfect and there are no issues with the look....

its a sad day when we cant buy american made parts for american cars.but here we are,where everythings made of "chineseium". i looked at all the alternitives,in the end i got a dash pad from a parts yard with not too many cracks,after a good scrubbing (it had turned grey) i treated it with mink oil and im satisfied .nice deep black shiny AND supple, i highly reccomend it.it works on the plastic trim on our cars too

I contacted this guy as I thought he might be able to help... He thinks his pads are made of gold... He's asking well over $600 for a used one. Thanks... But No thanks.
