Re: Anyone ever install rear shoulder belts?
So its safer for the kids to ride in back, lap belts are a thing of the past, just like when we had no seat belts at all.

That makes sense. I never think of anyone actually riding in the back of these cars which is why i asked. A kid is probably all that would fit back there.

You have to weld in the mounting plate for the shoulder mount

cut weld bolt don't matter, just like to see if anyone has done it and where they got the parts. Easier to copy the wheel then invent it

Re: Anyone ever install rear shoulder belts?
it should be just a matter of getting the shoulder harness and the steel bracket off a doner car and weld in into yours. Should just be a handful of spot welds.

Re: Anyone ever install rear shoulder belts?
You can find all sorts of new seat belt buckle ends but no info on how to unwrap or rewrap the belt part itself.
Be nice if I could leave the stock lap mech in place and just grab the upper from another car, but how do I connect the two for the single buckle, no luck looking for a Y adapter hehehe 2 female 1 male 7" extension.
Cause while goin over this, I know my rear left one is welded in, when I redid that section of floor I tied it all in. Might of welded right too while I was at it, I welded everything when it was gutted. Could grab the uppers from my parts S15.

Yea also the back seat back top sits back so far, to do a A pillar mount like in the truck, it would have to bolt to the hatch, would be a several inches forward of a proper place to bolt to metal. deff a head scratcher, will need a hunt through a junk yard to see what other car setups have.

Re: Anyone ever install rear shoulder belts?
Just cut the rear mounts out of a jy car & transplant them into our car, making sure to make good notes on where they were in the factory ones were & duplicate that. Grand the later model seat belts for the transplant, grab the interior pieces & your done. Simple work really.

Re: Anyone ever install rear shoulder belts?
This guy may be able to help this thread: he already has factory welding. Perhaps he can take photos and measurements.......

Re: Anyone ever install rear shoulder belts?
nope, just didn't see a way to get the top belt mounted right for proper shoulder belt, it needs to be back to far and up.
that or you need to cut holes in the top corners of the seat back and route it like a race seat does to force the belt to be in proper shoulder placement, then it could just mount low on top of wheel well.
And honestly that is probably easier, but dunno if legal, less ya kept the stock lap belt but tied in dual shoulder belts from a racing harness, same holes in seat back [ now 4] and can mount right behind seat at proper level easy for shoulder belts.
