Summit Racing "Sport Seats"
Anyone running these seats?
Was thinking of replacing the cloth power seats in my 1989 Iroc Z with them. Any idea what the weight savings would be? Would I sit lower in the car? I am 6'6" and barely fit in the car right now .
Thanks!

Re: Summit Racing "Sport Seats"
the seats dont fit to well you cant lift your seat all the way foward, i just modded my stock seat brackets to make them fit and when i go to lift it foward, sence i have a 1992 hard top with a sun roof, the top of the seat hits the headliner. so u will have to find a way to make them where they wont hit the top because the seats are to tall

Re: Summit Racing "Sport Seats"
their good seats its just that their to tall for hard tops but if you had t-tops or even a convert it would work perfect

Re: Summit Racing "Sport Seats"
I went with the Corbeau LG1's from hawks and i think they fit good in the car but then again i have T-Tops. I do recommend modifying your stock seat tracks though because the seat tracks from Corbeau sit way too high and im 6"2".

Re: Summit Racing "Sport Seats"
So I was thinking about removing the stock seats and tracks entirely, and installing these as close to the floor as possible. Would this correct the height issue, or would it still be a problem? Thanks for the replies guys...

Re: Summit Racing "Sport Seats"
They look wicked comfortable. I want to replace my stock seats without breaking the bank ..wanted a little more support. I was thinking 4th gen seats maybe. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Re: Summit Racing "Sport Seats"
4th gen seats sit lower than 3rd gen seats & are a lot more comfortable. Past of that comes from the cushions (comfort) but I believe the lower mounting comes from the seat mounts themselves.
So if I was gonna get those Summit seats, or any others.....I'd order them for a 4th gen to get the shorter mounts. Possibly the seat manufacturers were smart enough to realize that 1 mount could be used for 3rd & 4thy gens, so they stuck with the 3rd gen mounts they were already making when the 4th gens came out but who knows? I know I'd order them for a 4th gen just in case though.
But for about the same price? I'd go with seats from Scat. I've had them before (years ago) & loved them. Since I am not close enough to "test fit" Summit seats on my butt nor know anyone local that has them, I'd go with something I know.....The Scat seats.

Re: Summit Racing "Sport Seats"
I just put the summit sport seats into my 85 trans am. I have ttops so they fit okay. Only complaint is that the sliders are junk. Cant move the seat once they are in. I would recommend looking into different sliders. But for the price I paid, I cant complain too much.

Any chance you can try reposting that picture? I think a permissions/security issue is preventing me from seeing it through facebook.

I had these in my hardtop, with 3rd gen mounts, and they fit fine. Swapped them in my 92 t top car and they fit fine as well.
Not the heaviest of material used, which is ok if you weigh less than 200lbs.

Re: Summit Racing "Sport Seats"
Did you buy Recaro brackets for the Summit seats?

Re: Summit Racing "Sport Seats"
look close at the sliders..(GM sliders) almost 2" lower in the back and 1" lower in the front. ($8.00 for the set)
this bolts to my recaro seat brackets, for my recaro seats.
i like stuff to fit like factry, and, it's all gatta work. this test fit also clears my head with helmet on a a full 1"inch..5 point will come off the drivers side. and go on pasngr side.. a new 5 point go's on drivers side..that NHRA date stuff sucks!
this shot shows last years seats/drivers seat (still never used)in car. not side bars are going in after seat install
red and blck seats are also installed on the same low mt GM Rails. (FIERO rails) seat tilts forward and would lay all the way back. if it was not for the back bar.

Please clarify your words. Your initial posts read as if you used Recaro mounts for the seats in a Summit Seat thread, which sounds as if you used Recaro mounts for summit seats.
If you are saying you used Recaro mounts on GM sliders for Recaro seats.....How does that specifically apply to the Summit seats in any ways, other than suggesting the general rule of thumb of using other slider or mounts for summit seats?

Re: Summit Racing "Sport Seats"
Mine worked like a champ! I just reused the stock rails. As a added bonus the seat back can be removed and stuffed to better fit your back

get a good set of brackets for a good set of seats. they should fit and sit low enof
(nothing about summit seats) or is it just me?
it's the english Language, and how you use it....I guess
sorry.. was thinking that the use of GM sliders would Come up as a fix..so ill just post..that you can use GM rails on alot of other seats to get a good Fix,

Re: Summit Racing "Sport Seats"
I have a set of Scat Procar seats that I'm putting in right now, The summit seats look and measure up exactly like my scat set. I also have T-tops, but I am 6'1" and if I were to use the stock third gen rails my head would be smashed against the top. Im using a pair of sliders they came with and welding a bracket to bolt them to the floor. Only way I could see them fitting with me comfortably.
