Ok so i saw on here that someone put a 03 gmc rear view mirror into there 3rd gen that looked really awesome it had a temp display an also compass display how hard would it be to install this into a 3rd gen also what model gmc would i have to get it out of an what do i need to grab when im taking it out

 

GM in the newer years uses that same mirror for what feels like 15 years now. Any model from cars to trucks will have it.

 

Yea my gf said she had one in her previous grand prix gtp an hers lite up red i really want to find that one so it would match the digi dash is it complicated to put it in the car an is the wiring tough to do ???

You can get any mirror you want. They all mount the same. I got one that only had temp and compass and no onstar or passenger airbag light. Just make sure the wiring harness comes with it. I got mine for $30 with harness and temp sender. I ran the wires for the temp sender down behind the front bumper cover by the fog lamps. And the only other wiring required is 12v power, ground, and a tap into the switched 12v for the backup lamps. That way it comes out of dim mode when backing up.

 

eh - its not QUITE that simple. There are about 3 different mirror types running around (ask me how i KNOW!) IF you want comp and temp, there are 3 kinds of displays. One you have to click the button on the mirror to toggle between comp and temp. And one comes with compass only. There is also one that has BOTH displayed at the same time. Thats the one I wanted, amazing how many people selling 'em don't know the diff. The do all mount the same, and you DO want to get at least 6" of the wiring and the connector. Now, that is where it gets REALLY interesting. They have 6pin, up to 12 pin connectors! Because, they come with
auto-dim
onstar
airbag!

For our IROC's, you really want the one with the 6 pin, and the DUAL display. No onstar, no airbag. Autodim is very handy, most of them have that. Compass is self-contained, ran my temp sensor down in front of my fog-lights too. You'll need to order the temp sensor, and since most of them were run to the front passenger wheel-well, if you wanna put it anywhere else, you'll need longer wire.
