Trans Am Guage Rings
Re: Trans Am Guage Rings
I'd imagine you won't have any problems selling them because those things are beautiful! I would definitely buy a set if I didn't already have plans to swap my analog dash for the digital setup.

Sorry, this is a bit off topic but, is your steering wheel on the right side of the car?

Thanks fella, appreciate the comment. As you can guess 4th gen seats and i've changed the doorcards to have black leather inserts, the black and billet go well together i think.

Re: Trans Am Guage Rings
So I figured out a way to install these that doesn't require adhesive and I've been testing it for a little over a week and so far they stay in. I was looking at dabomb6608s post where he shows a bead of black 3m adhesive around the edge. At the same time, there is a bag of rubber bands staring at me on the desk. I don't have any pics, but if someone wants to see pics, I'll pull one out and take one. I basically just stretched a medium sized rubber band around the outer edge of each ring and moved the band to the very edge, then pressed them into the cluster. The band must be flat all the way around with no twists.
This actually makes them press fit without adhesive and works quite well. I originally did this for the "heck" of it, but after driving around over a week like that even over rough railroad tracks...they are still solid and staying put. I'm not sure if this would work for the early cluster, but it works on the later one. Mine is an '89. Just thought I'd share if anyone wants to try it.

Your way does allow you to remove them easily, especially if you want to go back to the stock look. Here are some pics of my install.....I really like them at night time!

Re: Trans Am Guage Rings
You can use just a rag and some polish and go to town, seems that's what most have done. If your dremel has the right attachment it'll work to.

Re: Trans Am Guage Rings
I used 1/4 2sided tape on the bezel then popped the rings in. Excuse the hanging wires I just put the dash back in and haven't tied it together just yet.

Your more than welcome to use it, and sorry about it being upside down, my phone likes to do that if I take the pic in landscape. When I get everything tied together and done ill post another.
