I've been tossing around buying a set of gray leather GTA seats, power, with the lumbar support. has the air compressor and wiring as well. The seats are in fairly beat up shape, especially the passenger one(which is odd, I've never seen a passenger seat be beat up and driver be in relatively good shape). driver only has one small tear on the side. The guy wants 30-40 a piece for just the seats, probably a little more for the wiring. Probably looking at around 80-100 for everything. So I want to know, is this a good price? How difficult of a swap is this? I took a look under the driver seat and there is definitely more wiring then I expected. any links on how to do this swap?

 

Its a simple R&R if you have the factory power harness.
remove old seats
remove the sill plate trim, dr kick panel and under dash panel
remove console
lay power harness along the rocker and feed the lil part of it up thru the capet under the dr seat then the rest under the carpet over the trans tunel to the slice in carpet under the pass seat. (i think there is a ground wire that gets its own screw 4 that harness and its in the console area)
run other end up under dash close to kick panel/ firewall area
you will find a harness there that the seat harness goes in between.
plug seat harness inbetween the factory harness
Now just put everything back together in the reverse order.

I'm sure I have forgot a few lil things but thats most of it.

 

These seats are getting close to impossible to find in good original condition. I paid $150 for my front cloth set 7 years ago, only flaw was minor foam wear in the driver's outer bolster (no tears, stains, etc.).

They weren't really that rare since they came standard in every GTA, but they're becoming rarer since more often than not people seem to be replacing them with used 4th gen seats rather than recovering the originals. I wouldn't pay more than $50-75 or so if they're in that bad of shape, but then again, they are getting harder and harder to find.

 

Do you think the fact that they are leather would make them any more desireable? from either a resale or just comfort level? I sat on them and they seem kinda stiff and not very comfortable, but it could be the foam is just worn out.

 

If the leather is not in good condition, I would think they'd be less desirable/valuable than a cloth set in nice condition. The factory leather seats tend to get harder/less comfortable as the leather ages. Worn foam is a factor too I'm sure.

 

I got a set of stock gta seats my driver is torn and passenger is worn as well the rear seats still look good i got the wiring everything dnt know how much there worth but i say 60 is fair. I bought newer style seats but kept these since i know people tht restore there cars might want a set.

 

alright well I'm gonna skip picking up those seats then. They were pretty uncomfortable and I'm not interested in doing the re-wiring that's involved. oh well. Guess I'll just get mine reupholstered sometime then .

 

get the gta seats out of a 4th gen. Can find them on ebay, but shipping hurts. They'll be tough to find locally, but, they mount right up, and the wiring harness isn't THAT different. I love mine in my IROC!

 

I talked to a guy about a set of Black cloth GTA seats. Said the drivers seat had a small tear but the rest were in great shape.

Got there and the drivers is tore up bad! Its coming off the tracks and the rest are torn as well! I drove 45 miles to pick them up for $50 since the seats in my TA are tore up and also have a track issue on the drivers side.
I looked at him and told him what he was selling was exactly what I described mine as and why I needed to find replacements!

Going to go with 4th gen seats now. I just liked the GTA look and thats why I considered them in the first place.
