Instrument Cluster Window

Does anyone know where I can find a replacement for the clear plastic window that covers the instrument cluster for a 1985 Trans Am? Was this a separate GM replacement part, or was it considered integral to the instrumet cluster?

Re: Instrument Cluster Window

I cut one out of clear acrylic I got at the hardware store and stuck it on with black silicone. With the bezel on, you can't tell the difference.
I can take a picture if you want.

I think I have one for an 85. You have the cable driven speedo, yes?

That's a good idea. I would have never thought of that. If the search for a replacement doesn't pan out, I may go this route.

Yeah. It's a cable driven speedo.

I have two gauge clusters, and neither has a clear plastic window. The one that is currently in the car is very hazy over the tach. So much that you can barely see the upper left side of the tach. I have another gauge cluster that I pulled out of my old '85, but that has no window. The window that was on there cracked.
