Re: Interior Carpet
Yes I did. I liked it a lot. The only problem I had was they rolled the carpet inside out and took me forever to vacume it all off the carpet!

Re: Interior Carpet
Most of the carpet available is made by ACC. So when you purchase it , it really comes down to price and service. I purchased mine from 1A, and it was reasonably priced and I got it in less then a week.
A few things to note:
When you get the carpet delivered, take it out of the box quickly and open it up. You don't want the creases from being folded to set in.
Mass backing is not that expensive and gives the carpet more body to retain its shape around the molded areas. It does make it a bit harder to cut and handle but it is well worth it IMO. You could also dynamat the floors and get the carpet without it.

Re: Interior Carpet
Cool thanks. I like the idea of the mass back. I really wanted to do the dynomat thing on the floor - looks like a fun project. But the mass back would be quicker and cheaper.
I guess I can still do the doors and rear fender areas w/dynomat.

Re: Interior Carpet
+1 from 1aauto. This was a few years back, but I remember having to cut some things like seat mounting bolts, etc. All in all it went in pretty good.
Re: Interior Carpet
I had the same problem with mine. I purchased mine on Hawks and it came from ACC. Some cutting and fitting was required but I was able to do it without any prior experience. One thing I noticed while shopping around is that sometimes the rear doesn't come with mass backing. This one from Hawks/ACC did have rear mass backing so that was a plus. I would suggest laying the front part out on a clean floor overnight to get some of the folds from shipping out. In the mean time you can drop the rear section in and let it sit in place overnight as well. If it bubbles up at first let it sit for a while its supposed to mold to the correct shape over time.

Re: Interior Carpet
Did you notice significant noise reduction ? or would you suggest adding a stick product also (in addition to) the mass back ?
Too much weight gain maybe/ overkill. Its not a cadillac right ?

Re: Interior Carpet
The original carpet had mass back, or something similar. So noise in my car is about the same. If weight is an issue, you could save a few pounds with dynamat or something similar and skipping the mass back because it definitely adds some weight.

Re: Interior Carpet
If you are making a drag car then yes that would add wait and would be useless. As to the Cadillac statement it's just a matter of opinion. I dynomated the whole inside of the car. The floor roof doors sides everything. And also the company my dad works for sells a insulation product that they used on the space shuttle it's only a 1/4 inch thick and super light so I covered the floor in that also. Once I was done I had a total of 56.5 pounds added to the car. Yes that is more wait but it's so much more quiet and well worth the wait gain.

Re: Interior Carpet
My drag days are long behind me, I'm 48. I'm looking for solid quieter ride. My 15 YO son is mad cause I fixed the exhaust leak in the pipes .... "doesn't sound as bad a$$ anymore dad" ... LOL, new catback Dynomax Super turbo going in this weekend, appearantly my fix didn't last long. Pipe was split over the rear axle.
Good, I think I will add some additional sound proof along w/mass back.
Thanks for all the tips.
Once exhaust is done, interior is getting new carpet, sound proofing, ultra leather seats, new visors and ttop hatch covers, seat belts .... gona look super new.

Re: Interior Carpet
my carpet came from acc themselves(only because my interior guy got discount from them) otherwise stockinteriors is your best bet. i did get the mass backing also and i am very pleased i did. it is worth it. better to get it done right then to get it and say crap i should have really gotten the mass backing....i do not have dynomat nor plan to use dynomat because im building a KITT car so i'm not putting in a great radio system. just my 2 cents

Re: Interior Carpet
The WEIGHT of the new mass backing was a lot less then the old mass backing. I guess 26 years of dirt sand and god knows what really adds up lol

I'll get some shots, getting mechanic to put it together, I dont have access to a lift or I'd do it myself, too cold and old to lay under .. LOL, Less painful to write a check.
At worst I will shot under after install.
Talked to another GTAer, said this system gives a nice quiet rumble at idle and is louder when you stomp on it. Kinda what I'm after.

Just take your time with the cuts and cut a little at a time. You could always cut a bit more, but once you cut too much you are going to have to live with the mistake.

Re: Interior Carpet
Went to the local muffler store today w/ my new exhaust ... wow, what a difference. The Dynomax Super Turbo has that original rumble that I wanted and is nicely aggressive when stomped, get to hear more engine than exhaust. I'M HAPPY !!!
I have to tweek the tail pipes up higher, exist hangers were abit too long.
Any way Exhaust kit(muff & pipes) was $212, shop did for $100 cash ...
